Chris Mayfield is a local artist, working and teaching in the WFISD Fine Arts Department.  “When I was younger, I always enjoyed watching movies, TV shows, and listening to music. I grew up here, my family is here, and I teach young art students here. My work is centered around some of my favorite pop-culture images. I loved the characters that got to do all the amazing, funny, death-defying things that I saw on the screen and stage. They are still a fun guilty pleasure now that I am a little older. Each of the pieces have been inspired by some moment of personal emotion. In every case, something good, bad, or ugly was happening. I feel like by creating a portrait of someone I have a connection to is similar to historical artists painting portraits of important people of their time. My favorites may just have a cheesy catchphrase, a time machine, or a World Series ring.” - Chris Mayfield
